Some couples spend their entire relationship in the “someday” phase. Kaitlin and John basically skipped that part altogether. After 17 years together since meeting back in 8th grade, their wedding day at David’s Country Inn didn’t feel like two people trying to prove how in love they were. It felt like two people who already built a life together finally deciding to throw the party that everyone else had been waiting for. There was something refreshingly unforced about the entire day. No pressure to perform. No overly curated Pinterest energy. Just two genuinely easygoing people who clearly enjoy being around each other and the people they love most.
One of the things Kaitlin mentioned during our initial consult was how important it was for the wedding to feel natural. She didn’t want anything overly posed or heavily styled. Instead, they were drawn to a mix of candid moments, relaxed portraits, and photos that actually felt like them. Honestly, couples who prioritize connection over perfection usually end up with the most emotionally honest wedding photos anyway. After nearly two decades together, Kaitlin and John have the kind of comfort and chemistry you simply can’t manufacture. The in-between moments came easily. The laughter was effortless. Even during portraits, it never felt like we were stopping the day to “take photos.” It just felt like an extension of the day itself.
Family was also a huge part of the heartbeat of this wedding. These are two people who genuinely love spending time with their families, and that energy carried through every part of the celebration. The entire day felt warm, welcoming, and deeply personal without ever becoming overly formal or stiff. And honestly, David’s Country Inn was such a fitting backdrop for that atmosphere. Between the historic charm of the property, the intimate spaces throughout the venue, and the cozy indoor areas, the entire place naturally encourages the kind of wedding day where people settle in, relax, and actually enjoy being present with one another.
Earlier in their engagement, we also photographed their engagement session at New Jersey Botanical Garden, which ended up being a pretty perfect reflection of their personalities too. Quiet. Relaxed. Natural. More focused on simply spending time together than putting on a show. In a lot of ways, their wedding day carried that exact same energy from start to finish. Just two people who have already spent 17 years choosing each other, surrounded by the people who have watched their story unfold along the way.
